It is the third largest and the most populated island of the British Virgin Islands and it covers an area of 8 square miles. It was named by Christopher Columbus as “the fat virgin” owing to its shape seen on the horizon.

The major residential and commercial part of it is found on the southwestern part which is the Spanish town. What makes this island a famous and major world tourist destination are the unusual geologic formation referred to as the ‘Baths’ found on its southern part. The island host one of the greatest natural harbors in the world called North Sound.

This island also remains one of the world’s premier destinations for yachts. The island boasts beautiful beaches that tourists can go to get a glimpse of the scenic and panoramic views it has to offer. Tourists visiting the island can also enjoy swimming at the beaches which remain unspoiled notably Savannah Bay, Pond Bay, Spring Bay and Mahoe Bay.
